Le Cabinet d’Illusions was present at the 56th French Illusion Congress, held this year in La Grande-Motte, a destination in complete contrast to the next one, which will be in the North of France!
This article presents some of the highlights of the conference. We took advantage of the event to present several projects: Bénita Anguinet for which we had just received the final press proof (and whose printing is almost complete!) and the new tour Constellations where an astrological sign is guessed without asking the slightest question, and without ever having access to the card corresponding to the chosen sign.
If visitors were very receptive to this new tool for mentalists, our effect Code effect also made a strong impression in its stage format, and something tells us that a sequel is on the way... to be continued!
The congress is also the place where different candidates present their ideas on a stage in front of the entire audience, to compete for the title of French champion in their category. We are delighted to announce the names of the two new champions who will represent France in the new year: Mervil and Jonathan Renoux. The latter is the creator of Magienarium, and also the author of Spectacle en couleursa book in which he explains a turnkey method for constructing and staging a close-up act. This book is now as topical as ever, and Jonathan's French close-up champion award proves that he knows what he's talking about.
Let's also congratulate the many other participants and the various other prizes awarded by the jury.
What would a convention be without its many lectures, from David Stone and Jean-Baptise Dumas (for which they received a well-deserved standing ovation), to Alain Choquette, Tony Polli, Céline Noulin, Roberto Giobbi, Juliana Chen, Eric Leblon, John Bannon, Jimmy Delp, Laurent Beretta, Ondrej Psenicka and Michael Ammar. A very fine line-up, with some of the artists performing at the galas. Special mentions to Eric Leblon, who masterfully led the gala with remarkable dynamism and technique, and to Céline Noulin for her exhibition on the life of Fanch Guillemin!
See you next year at Le Touquet. le Cabinet d’Illusions will be there with new projects already in the pipeline... and will you be there? 😉
