"We have an educated dog, we call him Munito".

Munito was one of the most famous performing dogs of his day. Gifted with a rare intelligence backed up by clever tricks, he could, with the help of his master Castelli d'Orino, find a chosen card, give the result of a calculation, or even play dominoes!

Much more than a "simple performing dog", Munito truly transformed the discipline, owning his own Cabinet d'illusions and performing in many countries. Most of his successors and emulators took up their mentor's name. They perpetuated Munito's name by continuing to present the same marvellous experiments.

By following Munito's paw prints, we've also traced the - hitherto unknown - life of his master, Castelli d'Orino, physicist and dog trainer. All these novelties are richly illustrated with previously unpublished documents from private and public collections. To conclude, we feature an interview with Michel Cassan, equestrian and dog trainer, who tells us more about the learned dog he trained.

This book offers an insight into the life of a dog, decidedly unlike any other, who lives up to this maxim:

"We have an educated dog, we call him Munito".
