1 review for Bénita Anguinet

  1. syb (confirmed customer) -

An impressive amount of research has gone into reconstructing the career of this magician and model of independence. The "repertory" sections are particularly enlightening (perhaps they would have benefited from a few more illustrations by the manufacturers). The visual documents, mostly unpublished, are very well distributed. Appendices detail the importance of Bénita Anguinet's notoriety, especially the chronology and European map of her representations. Finally, the parallel with her "physicist" contemporaries recontextualizes her incredible rise in a very hostile period. Bravo to the authors for this landmark work of magical literature, the first French-language biography of a female magician.
